Variation on a Prayer of St. Patrick

I breathe in joy as I stand today:
Calling on the Source, the Wellspring and the Living Water
Believing in the Threeness,
Witnessing the Oneness
On my way to meet you face to face.

Now let’s spend about one minute using part of this prayer as a breath prayer. On the in breath, say: “I breathe in love.” On the out breath: “…as I stand today.”

Petitionary Prayer

Today we’ll pray for people whom we have a hard time loving. Let’s take 25 seconds of silence to pray for and remember those whom we find most challenging and lift them into the light of Love.

Story from All Creation Waits

Story from the Advent book, All Creation Waits, written by Gayle Boss and illustrated by David Klein—today’s story is about the eastern fox squirrel.

Reflection on Story

The author talks about how red oak acorns give squirrels a powerful dose of energy when they need it most, and they hide them like treasures to be found when they need them. Jesus talked about God’s Good Realm in a similar way—it being like a treasure buried in a field. Let’s take a minute to meditate on how God’s presence is worth looking for and is as precious for us as buried nuts are for the eastern fox squirrel.

Benediction

Go in peace
Wash your hands
Love your neighbor
You are not alone.
