Despite Evangelical distortions, our tradition makes room for disillusionment and dissent as part of our faith journey. We can learn this from a writer who lost his faith-based hope, worn down by oppressive political powers and a lousy love life, and had the freedom to express it—as a form of inspired/sacred writing.
