This particular psalm (Psalm 121) is part of a handful of songs known as the Psalms of Ascent. It’s thought that these particular psalms were sung by the Israelites when they made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem each year. We often look at mountains with existential questions about whether or not we’re alone, and with realizations of how small and finite we are, and we wonder…Is there help to be had?
