Jonah’s story is a metaphor for major life and spiritual transitions. We see Jonah desperately crying out to God, fighting, blaming, and feeling overwhelmed—not to mention the visceral picture the story paints of him being in the stomach of a big fish. Like Jonah, we sometimes find ourselves desperately leaning into the Divine Love for comfort, and learning to trust that we’re held.
