Jesus tells the story of the great banquet to communicate that the kin-dom of God is for everyone. You can be offended and leave if you want, but this kin-dom is for gay and straight; for people of all races and cultures; for all genders; it’s for the uneducated as much as it is for the educated; the young, the old; the doubters, the believers, the unsure. They are all invited. Some think they’re not invited because the social rules have communicated that to them. But Jesus says, “I want my house to be full.”
